some clocks you turn the minute hand counter clockwise till you get to the right time. then you wind all 3 stems with the key. wind the stems every week at the same time.

In most winding clocks
One stem winds it, with a continous clockwise motion until it gets taught
Another stem sets the time or sometimes one stem sets hours ther other minutes
If the third stem is not minutes it may wind the chime…

Geez if I had it in front of me I could figure it out.Does the key unlock it or wind it?It probably opens the face whereas then you could set time with the stems.Ask a jeweler that deals in clocks
