I am restoring two vintage Seth Thomas mantle clocks (a split column and an ogee) with reverse painted door panels. I want to touch up the damaged paint on the door panels without it looking like a patch job. If I can find the same type of paint used, I can get the affect I am after. Any suggestions would be helpfull as I can not afford a museum restorationist.

most hobby stores carry those paints
restoring anything on an old clock except the mechanical workings actually makes it worth less i am sure you know
This is a lovely old clock, made by the E. N. Welch company. The clock features a very deep and mellow tone, and it’s the deepest sounding clock I currently have. This one will also be up for sale.

Manufactured before 1948. The movement is stamped 89AL.
Type in SETH THOMAS 89AL on your search bar. I found a lot of sites that you can look at. And don’t be afraid to pick up the phone or send some of these folks a e-mail.
The Sternreiter MM80811904 Brahms chiming mantel clock plays Westminster chimes each quarter hour and strikes the hour. It has an oak tambour case case and a mechanical 8-day German movement.

Does anyone know where I can find out info on Wentworth branded mantle clocks. I have been given one for Xmas and need to add it to my contents insurance and need to know a value.
Try looking on Ebay to see if there’s anything comparable to what you live listed there. It will give you some idea as to what they’re selling for. I hope that helps.
This is a fine Howard Miller mantle clock with a beautiful winter background and that plays one of these Christmas carols on the hour: Jingle Bells; O Come, All Ye Faithful; O Christmas Tree; Angels We Have Heard On High; O Little Town of Bethlehem; God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen; Hark! The Herald Angels Sing; Silent Night; Deck the Halls; The First Noel; Joy To The World; and We Wish You A Merry Christmas. This video is of it playing Deck the Halls. If you want to hear this clock play any different melody, feel free to leave a comment telling which one and I will gladly make a video of it.

the easiest way to find out is to open the clock and look at what’s in it. If there is no battery in it, look in the battery compartment to see if there is a marking.
If the clock you’re talking about is either of the following (see links) my bet is that it’s just a AA battery.
