it is brass and quite old, in the form of a woman with wings..but cant see a match on the rolls royce car which was my obvious thought.if not off a car perhaps from a mantel clock or throphy.

i have a reddish, cranberry ,off white boarder-with sage green in background with a small amount of black on bottom of boarder. walls are wheat, couch camel, chair plaid with reds,greens,pinks,yellows,orange sounds bad i know , it’s nice. my floor is laminate walnut in color. right now i have a picture of a white flower with greens surrounding just the flower, background of picture is like a crannberry drape, matting is dark green with a queer black frame. i’m so lost as to what to do, been trying to decide for 2 years now, sad i know!. anyway tried green big clock, tried 3 black mirrors. my house is a split and upon entering kitchen my family room is the first thing you see with fireplace the main focal point, so i wanted something with a wow! i’m a loser with decorating. ps. thankyou so much denise

I had the same problem for years. A mantel is really a focal point to a room. I had a beautiful collection of Large seahells at one point. I’ve also had a collection of crystal candle holders. Right now I think of finally got what I was looking for. I have a large oil painting hung on the chimney wall and just a series of four low candles centered beneath it that ight up the picture in the evening. It looks clean, well placed and is a definate eye catcher. I think a nice piece of art really accents a fireplace. I definately feel that less is more when decorating a mantel.

I have just found a rather strange item, it was inside a mantel clock that i have had for approx 30 years. i purchased the clock from a second hand shop, and i have never noticed the little object before because i have never tipped the clock upside down and then looked in the back. It is about 1.5inches long, pencil type thickness, it had a chain attached, when i pulled the chain a little glass object came out of it attached to the chain. It has an hallmark that is a crown, under that is the number 22, under that is the letter E. can anyone help to identify this item or the hallmark?
