Some of these mantel clocks are fetching high prices especially when they are German or European made.

I am trying to find out where this clock comes from and the maker . And the value of the clock as well. It is a wooden Mantel clock, the front opens to wind it with a key the back opens and has a pengaliem there is FHS cm 15 78.28 engraved inside the back. I know it has to be an antique because it came from an 83 year old unle. Can anyone help? please
FHS means it was made by Franz Hermle & Sons…..
"Nearly one hundred years ago, Franz Hermle began manufacturing and selling mechanical clocks.
In 1922, Franz Hermle founded the Franz Hermle Clock Company in Gosheim/Wuerttemberg, Germany.
Within ten years the company became known as one of the most modern and efficient manufacturers of
clock movements in the clock industry. Franz Hermle and his sons’ dedication weathered the effects of
WWII and made Franz Hermle und Sohn Uhrenfabrik prosper while other companies folded.
The founder, Franz Hermle, died in 1953 and left a modern and prosperous operation to his sons
Gebhard, Alfred, Hans and Heinrich Hermle. Now in its third generation, Franz Hermle und Sohn
employs over 500 people in 4 locations in Germany and an additional manufacturing facility,
Hermle Black Forest Clocks, in Amherst, Virginia, USA. Today, the company is a worldwide leader
in the manufacturing of clocks, and mechanical clock movements.
The trademark is the word Hermle in script or simply FHS stamped on the works."

The clock has two stamped bronze panels. The panels have Roman warriors. The clock has Classical/Roman detailing on it, and was styled to resemble a Roman temple.
There are a few places that may have the information you are looking for, I don’t know if you have any decorative features to your clock so its hard to tell exactly. Here are some sites that may help, if not I would bring it to a local antique dealer that specializes in clocks to get at least an insurance value.
