Where do I advertise? These old parts would be of use because the clock isn’t manufactured anymore.
The best way I found to sell my old clocks either running or not is on eBay. It’s the easiest to do and I almost always sell my items.
I just inherited a vintage Landau clock, but I have only been able to find very limited information. I’d like to know more about the maker and possibly the value of the clock. Any suggestions?
The brass ones are highly collectiblle. Probably several hundred dollars. I think they are German.
I have an antique keywound mantle clock, and it’s on the mantle, above the fireplace. Will it hurt the clock if I have a fire in the fireplace with it on the mantle?
Here’s a quick and simple test… next time you build a fire, place a candle where the clock would normally set. If the candle survives the heat intact, your clock should be ok too.
I’d just make one note of caution… the extra heat may cause the wood to dry out, over time. Cleaning the clock with Murphy’s oil soap on a regular basis will help prevent that, as well as prevent a soot build up, heheh. If you only build a fire once in awhile, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Have Fun
have a german tambrun mantel clock believe to be antique. can not find any info on my own. was hoping maybe someone out there might be able to direct me to a link up with someone who those these clocks and values. thanks.
You really can find that on e-bay
I have one, and it plays music as well. Kind of fun to have but can get on your nerves sometimes. It also makes my budgie jump when it plays lol
The ticking is a relaxing sound though when no music or tv on.
Hello,
I like them and they really fascinated me as a child. I admired the genius, imagination and mechanics that went into each one.
Cheers,

The hour hand usually drops at about the 2 or 3 o’clock position. It’s usually o.k. until I try to wind the clock. Then the little vibrations, or whatever, will cause the hand to drop, sometimes all the way down to the 6! If anyone has any knowledge of this sort of thing, I certainly would appreciate some pointers.
Usually the hands are either held by a threaded knob in the center, or more likely just by friction. In the second case, remove the hands by gently pulling them towards the front. You will notice each has a different diameter sleeve which fits over a shaft for that hand (concentric shafts). Squeeze the sleeve gently with fingers or a pair of pliers so that it grips the shaft a little more tightly. Then replace the hands.
